We are coming to the 'business end' of the season when mid-week games start in all leagues. More particular this year due to the postponement of so many matches due to the weather we have been having. I wish you all well over the coming weeks and hope that your fitness and training regime throughout the season sees you through this busy period unhindered. Many of you will be receiving cup final appointments and along with that will be the appointment of Assistant Referees. Assistant Referee flagging techniques and other matters relating to working with Assistant Referees will be incorporated into the Association Training over the coming weeks to offer you any assistance in this area.
Our Association continues to do well on the World and European scene. David McGeachie and Dougie Potter have most recently been appointed to officiate in the 2nd leg tie of the UEFA Champions League Quarter Final, Bayern Munich v Sevilla. Bayern take a 2-1 lead into this match, David and Dougie will accompany Willie Collum, Referee, Frankie Connor AR2 and Bobby Madden and John Beaton as the Additional Assistant Referees.
Throughout this busy period, George MacDonald, continues to put us through our paces at our weekly physical training sessions every Tuesday evening. The venue is at the Michael Woods Sports & Leisure Centre in Glenrothes, the warm up starts on the track at 7.15pm sharp. Come along and meet up with your fellow Referees and improve and maintain your fitness level. Please remember to bring appropriate footwear for use on the track and the grass pitch.
Our next Association meeting is our Annual General Meeting followed by our Monthly Meeting. These will be held on Thursday 12 April 2018. Information on these meetings has been sent to each Referee.
It has been my pleasure being your President over the previous 2 years and I wish your new President and the new Management Committee all the best for their forthcoming period. I wish all of you the very best for the rest of the season and I look forward to seeing you either at training or our next Association meeting on Thursday 12th..
